Portrait Procedure

I love to create portraits. If you are considering commissioning a portrait, please select "contact"

in the menu. I will be happy to walk you through the process and answer all your questions.

You have options to consider. My mediums are oil painting and charcoal drawing. Style, size,

medium, image reference and timeframe are factors that will determine the final price.

The portrait process typically begins with a visit to my studio to see my work and to discuss

the project. Once you decide to proceed, we schedule a sitting. I prefer to work from life in

my studio when possible, where I will do sketches and take reference photographs. This session

typically lasts 2-3 hours. If a sitting isn’t possible, I can also work from your photographs.

At the next meeting, we will select the final pose from my sketches.

When the portrait is near completion, you will have an opportunity to make adjustment suggestions

to the likeness. You can expect a traditional oil portrait to be done 3 months from the sitting date.

A 50% deposit is collected at the initial sitting/photo session. This deposit is non-refundable.

The balance is due when the portrait is accepted. The portrait price doesn't include tax or framing;

however, I would be happy to assist you with selecting a frame.

 I would consider it a privilege to create a portrait for you!
